We partnered with Tenants and Workers United to host a training focused on how Virginia’s restrictive laws block local solutions for housing, worker protections, and immigrant rights. Together, we explored how communities can organize for local democracy and reclaim decision-making power from the state.

In collaboration with SEIU 32BJ, we held a training for Virginia’s essential service and airport workers. We unpacked how state interference keeps localities from improving wages, working conditions, and safety standards — and how collective action can win back the right to decide what’s best for workers and their communities.

We conducted a powerful training with SEIU Virginia 512, connecting with public sector workers who see every day how state laws limit what local governments can do — even when frontline workers know what’s needed. The session focused on how to push for Home Rule and protect public services through local control.

Curriculum Focus Group with SEIU 32BJ Virginia
We launched our first-ever training curriculum focus group with frontline leaders from SEIU 32BJ Virginia to test and refine our educational tools on local power, Home Rule, and state interference. Their insights — grounded in real struggles faced by service and airport workers — helped shape a curriculum rooted in lived experience, designed to build power from the ground up.
